ART'S PURPOSE

Consider:
Art as communication.
Can art change the world?

Part 1:
From the TED conference winner of 2011 - JR
http://www.tedprize.org/jr-2011-ted-prize-winner/
Explain the implications of HOW his art could make changes in the world.
Do you think that art can make actual changes in the world?
How?
Do you think art should try to make changes in the world?  If so why?  If not why?

-ASSIGNMENT PART 1:
Write here in the comment section your response. Due Wens by class time.

Part 2:
Think about a topic/issue that is important to you.
-something that you want to propose needs to be changed
-something that people should be made aware of.
Then consider how you can communicate this visually.
You will be creating a work about this.   You can use any media, any approach, any creative ideas you have.

-ASSIGNMENT 2:
Write this idea out and turn in via email.
Do a sketch in your sketchbook (you might have more than one idea or approach) and explore how you would go about creating this work. Write out what media idea you could use.

AP2D, AP3D, and Studio Art classes

Hello Art students- welcome to the Visual Art Departments blog.  We will be using this blog for homework assignments where we will have discussion writing about art, websites, and events.  You will need to follow the site to know when something new is happening.  We will also be using the link on the side- Virtual Art Museums for homework assignments.  You should go to that site and get used to how it works and what it can do. I think you will find it interesting and hopefully educational as well.
