  1. 1. What do you think was the most successful project or assignment for you this semester?
A: The tsunami one. I really like the colors I used, though drew by markers wasn’t easy, the result was great to me. Also, I think I did a good job on the proportion.
    2. Do you think the sketchbook was a valuable assignment?
A: yes, because it forces me to find time working on it, and trying to get inspiration from little things surrounded me (since I often lose inspiration.)
    3. Honestly, do you think you could have put more effort into your projects?
A: yes. I think I was a little bit arrogant at the beginning of the semester while I saw so many nonart students, so when I did my projects, I didn’t put much efforts into my work, for example, I didn’t plan hardly at the beginning and just started inking or coloring my work. If I had the chance to redo those projects, I believe I would do much better.
    4. Honestly, do you think you could have put more effort into your sketchbook?
A: I believe I could because sometimes I did it in the last minute, though I still put effort into it, I felt sleepy at the end.
    5. Honestly, do you think you could have put more effort into your written assignments?
A: I think I need to put more effort into my grammar mistakes.
    6. Honestly, do you think you could have put more effort into your presentation?
A: I think I improved a lot in this semester compare with my previous presentation, so it was a little bit unexpected that many people still think my voice wasn’t loud enough. That’s the one thing I have to work on.
    7. What do you think was the most valuable part of the class?
A: To figure out how many things I can improve or think about because there are many great ideas appeared on many projects which I never thought about and really impressed to me.
    8. What do you think could have been done better?
A: Collage and negative-positive one. For the collage, I just ran out of ideas, and I don’t satisfy the color transition. Also, I didn’t put much effort into negative-positive one.
    9. If you are in the 2D studio class do you plan to take 3D studio next semester?
A: Not sure though, because it is a difficult time for me to do 3D, I often don’t have any ideas.
    10. Are you considering taking AP2D and or AP3D studio class in the future?
A: I am taking AP2D this semester, but still not sure about AP3D.

  3. 1. If not counting the last project we are doing ( I haven't finished it). I think the most successful one for me would be the collage. I had hardly experienced with collage before and I spent a lot of time doing that project, I really feel my effort paid off.

    2. Definitely yes, sketching is just like the brainstorming before writing an essay. It is the foundation of a great piece of artwork for me.

    3. In a general idea, yes. But, sometimes I rather only finish the project up to 80 percent and start doing again after a while with a different idea.

    4. Yes, i definitely could have spent more time on it. But since the sketchbook is graded, sometimes I'm afraid to sketch down every thing I think about because it might may be too rough or unorganized.

    5. I think I already put a certain amount of effort in my writing assignments.

    6. I think i try my best in my presentations, but I need to overcome the nervousness of speaking in front of the class.

    7. Having a class together is really great because I can get feedback from others. It is important to listen to others opinions because they might look at my artwork in a different perspective as me. I got really great opinion on my collage piece, when one of my classmates told me a thought that I had never looked at it that way.

    8. I think I really have to confront my fear of drawing in front of others.

    9. Yes, i plan to take 3D studio next semester

    10. Yes, I am planning to take both AP2D and AP3D studio class in my senior year.

  4. 1. I think the most successful project this semester is the collage. In all of the projects (till now), I put most effort in it.

    2. Yes. Not only because I can sketch during study time without being blamed by my mom but also because it let me "finish" all the sketches. (I sometimes just stop and didn't finish the pictures)

    3. I think I did my best for all of my projects.

    4. Most of them. However, for one week I forgot to draw, I rushed through them. And for another week, I really don't know what to draw (brainstorm for final project).

    5. Yes. I watched all the vedios and tried to understand them and tried my best to answer the questions.

    6. Yes. I think I did my best to prepare for the presentation.

    7. To get feedbacks from other people.

    8. I really want to improve my colored portrait. I think my project seems "dirty", and I want to change the color used.

    9. Sorry, but no. I'm not going to take 3D studio arts for next semester.

    10. Sorry, but nop again.

  5. 1. What do you think was the most successful project or assignment for you this semester?

I think the "mystery" project was the most successful and also the most fascinating because it was a huge collaboration containing different styles. Everything went well and the result is awesome.

    2. Do you think the sketchbook was a valuable assignment?

Yes, sketchbook provides practices and builds your skills.

    3. Honestly, do you think you could have put more effort into your projects?

hmm... maybe for some that i didn't think i've put all my effort in.

    4. Honestly, do you think you could have put more effort into your sketchbook?

    Yeah,because i usually rush them

    5. Honestly, do you think you could have put more effort into your written assignments?

    maybe?

    6. Honestly, do you think you could have put more effort into your presentation?

I always tried my best in presentations, however i still need to improve on it.

    7. What do you think was the most valuable part of the class?

seeking your own ideas and learn the values of art

    8. What do you think could have been done better?

create more contrast in my sketches, because i'm usually too afraid of making my drawings too dark
and also i should try to do more paintings, since i dont do them often.

    9. If you are in the 2D studio class do you plan to take 3D
    studio next semester?

    Yeah.

    10. Are you considering taking AP2D and or AP3D studio class in the future?

    Most likely

  6. 1. I think the collage was my best even though I struggled on some parts. It was the first time for me to do an "artistic" collage instead of an informative one. I really like the result.
    2. Yes, the sketchbook forced me to spare time to draw, which I usually enjoyed.
    3. With a limitation of time, I think I have already tried to put enough effort. Maybe I should work on doing things faster?
    4. For some parts, maybe.
    5. I don't really have written assignments in 2D.
    6. I think I've worked hard enough on the presentation.
    7. I think it was the chance for me to experiment with different media and trying to find my style.
    8. I should work on my speed and be less conservative in terms of creating.
    9. Yes.
    10. Possibly.

  7. 1. What do you think was the most successful project or assignment for you this semester?
I believe that the project we are working on right now, which the topic is how can art make change to the world,is the most successful. I think that most of the previous projects are more about basic skills but this one we can express our own ideas to the audience.

    2. Do you think the sketchbook was a valuable assignment?
I think the sketchbook was a valuable assignment because it gives us a chance to practice our skills and record ideas.

    3. Honestly, do you think you could have put more effort into your projects?
I think that I have put a lot of effort on my works but I wish I have spent more spare time on them so that I can take better care of every single details.

    4. Honestly, do you think you could have put more effort into your sketchbook?
Even though I sketch all the time, I think I should pay more attention to specific assignments that were assigned.

    5. Honestly, do you think you could have put more effort into your written assignments?
I think that compare to the effort I put into my artworks, I did put less effort into the writing assignments since I'm not always interested to writing.

    6. Honestly, do you think you could have put more effort into your presentation?
I have completed the presentation but I should have more preparation before presenting it.

    7. What do you think was the most valuable part of the class?
I think the most valuable part of the class is that I got to see different ideas from other students in the class. I think this class gives us all a very good chance to exchange ideas and comments.

    8. What do you think could have been done better?
I think we should have at least a critique on the works we've done so that we can have a better understanding of our works.

    9. If you are in the 2D studio class do you plan to take 3D studio next semester?
Yes I'll definitely take the 3D class next semester because i'm sure it's going to be a great class!

    10. Are you considering taking AP2D and or AP3D studio class in the future?
I'm now taking them at the same time. I would suggest people who are "truly, really very" into art to take these AP classes because they can really motivate you.

    8. What do you think could have been done better?

  11. Tiffany Chen {01.17.12) PART 1 Reply:

    1. The most successful project/assignment that I did for this year(semester) so far is working together with everyone in class to create one giant picture of a Wave.

    2. Yes, the sketchbook is a very valuable assignment. And hearing from the previous seniors, they can't stress enough how important doing the sketchbook is. I understand where they're coming from because to me, when you draw in your sketchbook, it's like writing something in your own personal diary. There may be times where you draw things that make no sense to you, & they might just be "spur of the moment" types of sketches or doodles. But those doodles and random designs & pictures you come up with are ideas. And those ideas help you develop your skill in drawing/sketching, the way you think about things, & help you work out your next project or artwork/piece to create.

    3. Yes, for sure I know a few of the projects I could've put more effort & time & critical thinking into. I wouldn't say my artworks are failures, but I know that if I don't & haven't pushed myself to the limit where I think I can create my artwork into something that states "me" or with an impact or meaning,. . .then I know I haven't put enough effort into it. I know I could've done better.

    4. Yes, I think I could've done MORE for my sketchbook. I like pretty much all of my sketches, but I do know that if I drew more in my sketchbook, I'd probably have a lot more creative ideas & pieces of artworks, & more experience in just "sketching".

    5. I think for my written assignments. . .well, I don't think I've done any? Since I entered the class a bit later than expected. But from my past year in being in Art History class, I can say that I'm quite satisfied with my written assignments. I bring my point of view forth, & rarely make any mistakes in grammar, & the most important thing is, I Know was I was writing about. So for that, I think I do fairly well on my written assignments.

    6. Yes & No. I feel that I should & can always do better. I think that my presentations would probably be tthhhhatttt much better if I had packed into my speech more of what I wanted to say, & shown more slides of pictures.

    7. I think the most valuable part of the class is. . .to listen, feel, & experiment. I think these are the key factors in being able to create a good piece of artwork. Not everyone is born a talented artist, or is destined to be one. And not everyone's eyes have that knack of knowing colors & compositions. But anyone & everyone Can produce artworks if they try. I say "listen" because when Mrs. Jones is giving instructions, it's important to know what she wants us to follow & what theme & topics are that we're trying to do. Also because when people critique your work & are trying to give you pointers, they aren't always criticizing your work. They're just telling you what They see from Their point of view, & sometimes, other people are able to catch little details & things that you, the artist, have never taken note before, or seen it as. You move forward as an artist, & as a person doing art when you listen to others & try to incorporate other people's feedback. The reason why I think "feeling" is important is because. . .everyone has emotions, & moods. And a lot of (great)artworks that motivate people are the ones that have meaning tagged behind the creation of the piece, & or the feeling that piece of artwork gives. You don't really have to do a whole lot to change the way people feel, but when you express yourself, your feelings, & you try to Show other people, that's when it really hits the heart of others. Because it makes those people look at your work, & stop to think " Why did the artist do this?" " What's the story behind this piece?", so on & so forth. Finally, for "experimentation", that's also another important thing in creating artworks. It's all about pushing your limit, & the boundaries, & thinking in different ways to make an artwork stand out & scream You. You never know how something will turn out if you don't Try & do different things & be "out of the box" & be creative. Art is about expressing yourself, your thoughts, your feelings. Not everyone in the world will understand all the time what your trying to do, but by experimenting with different medias, & designs, you can do & create a whole lot of artwork that will capture the eyes of onlookers.

    8. I think that. . .my collage piece of artwork could be done better.

    9. YES! For sure I'm going to take the 3D class next semester! I'm really looking forward to it.

    10. I would like to take AP 2D/3D. . .but sadly I'm currently a senior, . . .so it's not exactly possible for me to take AP 2D/3D Studio classes. But from what I've seen my classmates done, I really applaud them for their hard work, & their awesome creativeness. :)
