  1. I like Andreas Pries' artworks especially the series "Alive" because the skills and subject matter. First of all, the pattern and the shapes the artist chose to put together to form the animals are simple which I think is really similar to those the native people used on the weavings. also, the artist titled different symbolic words that match each painting. For example, a painting of bee has the word "united" beneath it. I like that the artist keeps the simple concept of symbolism and even a bit of poster-like style but then developed it with amazing art skills!

  2. i find myself in love with the artworks of the artist Sumeru. His series of exploring the Buddhist Zen concept and land is fascinating to me. I haven't thought about about the Zen as a story of a traveler going through the different terrains and conquring obstacles. Despite the fact that i do meditation and martial arts myself, this is a totally new concept that i have not thought about it before.
His color tone of plain black and white is even more significantly appealing to me. With the single toned colors, it provides me with another sense of the world of the mind. Where when you are in your dreams, this is all imaginative. The Zen idea also contribute to the idea of black and white. Going through Zen is a process of learning and much of a self evaluation. Its not about enjoying but rather a state of mind that you explore yourself in a peaceful and calm state. The Black and White further reinforces this idea of calm and secluded from the world. The composition is simple, while the things inside are realistic like a photograph. Fantastic website for interesting artists and inspiration.

After browsing through many portfolios and pictures, I came to a bunch of artists that I really enjoyed from viewing their works.
One that struck out most to me was the lady artist and photographer, Nadia Wicker. The album which I gave the link to is titled "Mezig", which means "I". From looking at her other works, her basic concept of work is about the human, emotion and mind.
I find that I absolutely adore this album because not only of the compositions, but also the colors that Nadia uses too. Her style is simple, but she goes beyond. There is much power from each and every photo you see, and she brings out different sides of human emotion for her audience to see. The faces are like her canvas, and they become an open book for all that view. I feel like she tries to bring in a little short story, or something of the sort that describes what she's photographing from her photos.
"Color" is definitely something that attracts people and is linked to many different feelings and views. And with the simple and specific color she chooses, you can guess where she's trying to get at.
Definitely in a human's mind and eye and face, there's more that meet's the eye when you look upon a stranger you see in the streets or wherever.

I went through the website and found many interesting artists, but Nadia Wicker's portfolio really caught my eye and made me look at the pictures over and over again. I especially like her URSIDES collection because it reminds me of my own light photos yet with a human aspect to. It looks as if stars were on the models face and then shot with a slow shutter speed. I like how the photos are time just right so that it ha a abstract shape but when a person looks at it he can still see that it was a person's face. The description says that it was a mix of makeup and photography and I would really like to learn how she did it. Very interesting.

I pay my respects to Levi van Veluw, who makes an artwork of/on himself. The concept is absolutely creative and striking. He uses his own body as sculpture and combines it with materials and in the end results in photography. The link I put here is a series of landscapes. The image of a head covered with moss-like green messes seemed a bit gross at first, but the longer I look, the more beauty I find in it. The details of the landscapes are amazing. They seem to be growing out of the human skin instead of simply covering it. The video manages to break the stillness of photographs but still remains the same kind of serenity. However, there seems to be a strong force of nature underneath all that. This is part of the reason why I like the landscapes more than other materials or textures.

There are several cool artists that caught my eyes as i browsed through and picked from the sight. Out of them all, Rimantas Lukavicius's works is so far the most fascinating! I love the concepts of the animation; combining music and motion and placing the subject in a real setting. My favorite of his works is probably the Coca Cola contest entry and Infinity water. There's so much space created, it's as if you were there to see the water in the desert sky or being in the room where the Cokes twist and turn along with the tune of the music. They appeal to me both visually and audio wise.
