This video is very interesting. In elementary school, we had to make our own pattern inspired by M. C. Escher's work here so this brought back memories. I researched and found out that some of Escher's sketches even helped out his half-brother with his work in crystallography. The video made me wonder about Escher's process in creating his patterns. Did he figure out the mathematics first and how the shapes fit together? Or did he make the art first and add from there?
As much as I do not like this religion, I have to admit that their art style is very unique. All the patterns on the walls and ceilings are definitely amazing.
